1847-
Daniel Massey opens machine shop. 1874-
Massey Manufacturing Company purchases the patent rights to the Sharp’s
Sel-Dumping Wheel-Rake and proceeds to manufacture and sell over 250, 000
units. 1889-
Massey’s Toronto Light Binder easily wins the gold medal and special
trophy at the Paris Universal Exposition. 1891-
Merger of the Massey Company and A. Harris Son & Company, the two most
successful ag. companies in Canada, to form Massey-Harris. 1900-
First stripper-harvester introduced, forerunner to today’s stripper
header.
1910-
First reaper-tresher introduced. 1920s-
Harry Ferguson perfects the Ferguson System of integrating the tractor and
implement. 1930-
First 4-wheel drive tractor introduced.
1938-
Henry Ford begins manufacturing Ford-Ferguson tractors.

WW II- Massey-Harris manufacturers wings for Mosquito bombers, Stuart tanks, and naval gun mounts and organizes "The Harvest Brigade." 1947- After 300,000 tractors are produced the Ford/Ferguson partnership ends
1953-
Massey-Harris-Ferguson Company formed. Company
name shortened to Massey Ferguson. 1958- Sir Edmund Hillary uses Ferguson
tractors on overland expedition to the South Pole.
1962-
Sells more tractors in the Western World than any other brand, a record achieved
every year since. 1993-
AGCO acquires North America distribution rights to Massey Ferguson products. 1994-
AGCO acquires Massey Ferguson Group Limited. 1996- MF
6100 and MF 8100 tractors win prestigious OEM and AE50 awards.
