THE MF9000 SERIES A QUANTUM LEAP AHEAD

With a long day and a big field in front of you, there’s nothing like knowing you have a rugged, efficient powerplant behind you. And that’s exactly what you get in the new Quantum Series engines from Cummins. The QSC (8.3 liter) in the 9690 and QSL (8.9 liter) in the 9790 represent a new approach to power and reliability for a new level of harvesting ease and performance. While designed and built for your toughest needs, they’re amazingly smooth, quiet, and efficient. Thanks to advanced combustion chamber design, improved aspiration, and state-of-the-art electronic controls, these engines operate at a low rate of fuel consumption, making it the perfect match for your high capacity MF combine.

POWER

Modern Cummins engines power both the MF 9690 and MF 9790. A QSC Cummins engine provides 285 hp (212 kW) to the MF 9690 at 2200 rpm. A power bulge of 305 hp (227 kW) is available at 2000 rpm. The MF 9790 features a new QSL-9 Cummins powerplant, capable of 330 hp (246 kW) at a rated engine speed of 2100 rpm and a power bulge of 350 hp (261 kW) at 1900 rpm. Both engines are electronically controlled and feature improved throttle response, cleaner combustion, and improved fuel economy.

QUANTUM SYSTEM ELECTRONICS

Full-authority electronic controls ensure higher torque, quicker governor response, shorter service times, longer maintenance intervals, increased fuel economy, and decreased engine noise for efficient, more reliable harvesting.

ROBUST DESIGN

A strong, forged steel crankshaft with integral counterweights and induction-hardened rod and crankshaft-bearing journals provide durable, long life.

DIAGNOSTIC AND PROGNOSTIC PROGRAMS

The engine constantly monitors its performance to detect potential problems, which gives you the opportunity to do preventive maintenance. If a critical system begins operating outside of normal parameters, the engine will limit its output or even shut itself down in order to prevent serious and costly damage.

CUMMINS ACCUMULATOR

PUMP SYSTEM (CAPS)

This patented system is controlled electronically to precisely deliver optimum fuel quantity and pressure independent of the engine speed. The result is higher combustion efficiency and a 20% increase in torque at low speeds.

24-VALVE CYLINDER HEAD

The cross-flow cylinder head design promotes improved fuel and air mixture, resulting in more complete combustion and better fuel economy. Four valves per cylinder permit greater airflow, resulting in increased power and faster engine response across the entire power band.

WASTE GATE TURBO CHARGER

Custom designed for heavy work, it delivers maximum power and torque under load and

provides controlled boost pressures throughout

the engine’s operating range, resulting in greater fuel economy and less smoke.

IMPROVED PISTON DESIGN

A symmetrical piston bowl combined with centered injectors deliver optimal combustion

and more power.

NO-ADJUST OVERHEAD

The rocker system in the valve train is designed to operate 5,000 hours before it needs checking.

LOW MAINTENANCE

FUEL FILTER ASSEMBLY

An integrated water separator and water-in-fuel sensor helps protect you from performance problems resulting from contaminated fuel. The 10-micron filter stretches change-intervals to 500 hours.

More power and torque means faster harvesting and on-the-go unloading without slowing down.

The Cummins Quantum Series engine block is designed to reduce noise and vibration. Fluid passages are integrated into the block, as opposed to external lines and hoses, which eliminates potential leak points.
